Richard Colburn Obituary

COLBURN Richard B. Colburn, age 68, of Cohasset, Mass., formerly of Fairfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 after a long illness at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Boston, MA. Dick was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Kathleen (Keeler) Colburn and the late Harry S. Colburn. He received his BS in Accounting from Canisius College and attained his CPA. After a career in public accounting and corporate finance, he joined the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA). He retired from the MWRA as Assistant Treasurer in 2002. Dick was a member of the Cohasset Rotary Club. He was also an avid sports fan rooting for the Buffalo Bills and the Boston Red Sox. Dick was a former past President of the St. Thomas Aquinas Home School Assoc. and was very active with the Fairfield Junior Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Colburn also enjoyed coaching little league and football, as well as refereeing football games for the Wakeman Boys Club in Southport. Mr. Colburn is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Nancy (Gaudet); his mother, Kathleen (Keeler) Colburn of Venice, Fla.;, his brother, Harry S Colburn Jr. of Venice, Fla.; his six children, Kevin Colburn of Stamford, Colleen and her husband, Tim Adams of Medway, Mass., Jeff Colburn and his wife, Kim of South Windsor, Elizabeth and her husband, Nicholas Moraites of Medford, Mass., Christopher Colburn and his wife, Judith of Downingtown, Pa., and Kathleen and her husband, Peter Cote of Attleboro, Mass.; as well as, 12 dear grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, (across from St. Anthony's Church), Cohasset on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment Beechwood Cemetery, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory would be sincerely appreciated to the National MS Society, Central New England, 101A First Ave, Suite 6, Waltham, Ma. 02451 or to the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, 1200 Centre St., Boston, MA. 02131.
