Robert Burd Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Robert M. Burd, a distinguished physician in Bridgeport and Fairfield for 48 years, due to complications from a catastrophic fall he suffered in Sarasota, FL, where he was living with his beloved wife Alice. He was 82.
Dr. Burd joined Dr. Milton Cooper's practice in 1969. With Dr. Cooper, he built up a thriving practice, which is now known as the Medical Specialists of Fairfield. As well as caring for internal medicine patients, he specialized in hematology and oncology. He served as the Chief of the Department of Hematology at St. Vincent's Medical Center for over 20 years and was also affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital.
Dr. Burd practiced medicine the old-fashioned way, by getting to know his patients and really listening to them.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Alice of 55 years; his sons, Russell and Stephen; his brother, Murray; and his granddaughters, Hannah and Leah.

Our family will be forever grateful for the time Dr. Burd spent researching where the best possible treatment was at that time for treating our son Jeffrey Keith; diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma.
His research led us to Boston Children's Hospital for Chemotherapy followed by visit's back in Fairfield for further treatment in Dr. Burd's office.
Remembered always for his personal concern dedication and professional care.

Dr Bob Burd was a special man who was a perfect example of what a physician should be. Most importantly, he truly cared for all his patients and never left their side. Brilliant in his knowledge base, he also cared about the whole person. He was a man for others and he will be missed.

Dr. Burd was a brilliant and wonderful doctor who took care of my mom who had A-Plastic Anemia for years. He was so caring and had such a great doctor-patient relationship with her. My condolences to his family. May he be at peace.
