Robert (Bobby) Hargrove (76) passed away in his home in Cape Coral, Florida after a brief illness. He was born and grew up in Bridgeport and was a years long resident of North Haven, CT.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert "Bob" K. Hargrove and Lorraine (Mandell) Hargrove. His sister Nancy Petrucelli and her husband Louie.
As a boy he could be found running around the lanes of Bowl-O-Rama in the North end of Bridgeport with his friend Lou Petrucellli while his parents ran the luncheonette. Bobby loved the action. He was an amazing bowler and a member of the PBA; but addiction sadly took hold. He was in and out of rehab many times. Then came Serenity House in Westbrook; he went into that sober house a resident and left as the Manager. He and his wife Gail then opened 600 Middletown Ave. Together, they made that sober house a home and family for many years. With the work he did in recovery, Bobby affected countless lives of those not only battling addiction but their families as well.
After moving to Cape Coral Bobby became partner and expanded Naples Vaper LLC into a thriving business; he went from holding court in the Bowling Alley to the Golf Course on Magnolia Landing. This is where he found great happiness the later years of his life.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years Gail Hargrove of Cape Coral, daughter Danielle Hargrove and granddaughters Elisabeth, Abigayle and Sophia Albert all of Waterbury, CT. Stepdaughters Karen Ferranti, Linda Howard Gregory and Michelle Zimnoch. And most devoted friend George Gdovyn. All loved him dearly.
Per Bobbys wishes there will be no funeral services; however, all are invited to celebrate his life at the Wallingford Country Club, 195 Long Hill Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492 where Bobby was a member; Friday, January 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A small dinner will be provided.
