Robert Iacozza Obituary

IACOZZA Robert D. Iacozza, age 77 of Milford, a retired employee of Black and Decker and General Electric Co., died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Genero and Margaret Kunze Iacozza, and was a member of the Central High School, Class of 1948. As a youth, Bob enjoyed playing football and baseball, and proudly played first base with the 1952 Highlanders A. A. Baseball Team, which won the Park City League Championship. He also was a member of the 1957 Highlanders team which competed in Battle Creek, Mich. in the World Amateur Baseball Congress. Later, he played baseball and basketball for General Electric in the industrial league. Mr. Iacozza graduated from the Bridgeport Engineering Institute and the University of New Haven. He previously coached little league baseball, and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his beloved wife, Margaret Sweeney Iacozza; four children, Mary Beth Saltzman and her husband, Stephen of Woodbridge, Bob Iacozza and his wife, Lorraine of Milford, Ann Schoenster and her husband, Michael of Milford and Carolyn Bonvicini and her husband, Robert of Orange; two sisters, Margaret Shelby of Stratford and Elaine Antonini and her husband, Joe Milewski of Pa.; seven grandchildren, Shannon Murray and her husband, Robert Townes, Ashley and Bobby Iacozza, Alyson and Michael Schoenster and James and Matthew Bonvicini; a great-grandson, Marcus Townes; his extended family, Amy Saltzman of Hamden and Linda Verga and her husband, Frank and their children, Jordan and Daniel of Carlsbad, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place Friday, June 27, 2008 (Today) at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 71 River St., Milford. Interment will follow in Kings Highway, Milford. The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, has been entrusted with arrangements.
