Robert (Bob) Ledger
Robert (Bob) Ledger, 78, passed away on March 9th, 2024 in Port St. Lucie FL. He was the son of the late William and Martha Ledger. Bob was born in Bridgeport on Nov. 6, 1945. He graduated from Stratford HS, and went on to receive his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maine. After graduation he worked as an English teacher in Middle and High School for the Seymour Public Schools. Several years after retiring, he continued teaching as a substitute teacher for the Stratford Public schools.
He leaves behind his Life Partner of 36 years, Joan Balen and his lifelong best friend, Bill (Anita) Rusnak.
Beginning in 2014 Bob and Joan decided to avoid the cold winters in Connecticut and spent them in Port St. Lucie, FL. Bob spent many spring times camping with his friend, Bill, at the Lone Oak Campsites. Whatever activities Bob participated in, he was 'all in'. He was an expert fisherman, walking the streams in upstate Connecticut. He loved golf, played hockey as a goalie (the only one playing without skates). He absolutely loved acoustic music, with Bluegrass and Celtic his favorites. He and Joan attended many music festivals and concerts together. He was also an excellent Trivia player. He was an avid fan of The Yankees, The Washington Commanders and the Montreal Canadiens. But Bob's greatest delight was making people laugh… he had a sophisticated sense of humor and loved using a play on words to get a reaction.
Please join us for a Memorial Service, a "Celebration of Bob's Life" on Monday, August 5th at 11 a.m. at the Bridge House Restaurant (lower level), 49 Bridgeport Ave. (Rt 1), Milford, CT.
