I wish to extend my sincerest sympathy and condolences to Ollie and the Wells family. I talked with Ollie last night and found out that his father had passed. Although I could hear the sadness in his voice, he told me a story about his Dad that I hope will always be a great memory to the children of Robert A. Wells. I quote “the earliest memory that I have of my Dad is when we kids were all little Dad would be on his hands and knees and we would climb on his back and he would act like a bucking bronco. All of us kids would fight to ride on my Dad’s back, my turn, my turn we would say to each other. I can remember laughing till my sides hurt.” I hope the Wells family memories will replace the sadness in there hearts with laughter. God bless you all.

I adopted "Poppy" as my grandfather about 12 years ago. We would go out to lunch and/or dinner so many times that Emmett and Courtney would teasingly say that I was his girlfriend. I will miss those dates we had. I learned alot from him and will take it with me always. I was honored enough to spend time with him in his last days, which I am grateful for. I know in my heart that he is up there looking over his family, so you all better behave. I love you Poppy and will miss your smiles and jokes....

I have many memories of Uncle Bob but those that remain the strongest began with Saturday nights at Danbury Fair Racearena. When the midgets were racing Uncle Bob drove the jeep that push started the racers. Occaisionally my Dad would get to ride with him. Unfortunately I was too young so I would have to be content to listen to them after the race as we waited for the crowd to thin out.
As the years went by we would talk racing whenever we met, especially NASCAR. While we sometimes disagreed, I always held his views in the highest regard.
I will miss Uncle Bob, but as long as I remember those days, and it is a memory that will last as long as I am here, I will feel his presence alongside my Dad whenever and wherever I watch a race.

Dear Sandi and Family,
Bob was truly a great men and a brought laughs to many. I remember him a kind and outgoing man. I still to this day think he was the one I had a conversation with while he was driving a bus down in Disney World!

I never had a Grandpa to miss because I lost my own when I was very little. You are the closest person to a Grandpa that I have ever known, and I will really miss you Poppy. I will never forget the twinkle in your eyes when you told me all your stories and about your racing days. Rest in peace knowing you are loved so very much.

I quote from a sermon on death delivered in St Paul's Cathedral in 1910 - "Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed. At the little jokes we always enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Without the ghost of a shadow in it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval. Somewhere very near. Just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!" This is how I choose to be with my dear brother. I will see you again sweatheart, until then save a place for me. Love, Kay
