To the Setkoski family: Ron and I go back to the St Michael's School days where our paths crossed practically every day walking to and from school. It continued with the bus trip to Bullard Havens Technical School at the Kossuth Street and Barnum Avenue stop. He was always in the other duplicate class and I remembered he excelled in his studies. He played football in high school with a passion and was gunk ho with the sport and weight lifting. An example being a physics class experiment, Ron generated the most horsepower out of 60 students including myself, running up the stairs based on his weight and speed.

We both caught the skin diving bug limited to shooting fish in the Stratford and Pleasure Beach breakers. I recall after being pumped up by a T.V. show, "Sea Hunt", and Ron not having the money to buy a wet suit wore 3 or 4 long johns and attempted to dive in the Sound, one snowy January with poor results. He always pushed the envelope.

He was also in the 1960s hot rod racing scene where he built his beloved flat black, 2 door, 1955 Chevy with a modified Corvette engine. I raced him once and was so startled by the noise that I missed my next shift when he opened that monster up.
Our relation drifted after he meet Joanne and resumed after our tour of duty in the Army. We again came together in Shelton where we both had houses and began socializing with our wives at nightclubs. We both loved sailing and cruised to Block Island, and competed in local sailboat races. In retrospect, our friendship always resumed after any interrupted period of time. We discussed many subjects that affected us. I will miss that smiling attentive face after the door opened.

Ron, we met, fell in love and married at age 19. We had our love and many, many good times. Although we had parted to go on separate paths, we remained close friends. Thank you for those years and for our 4 beautiful children. I will miss our long talks and your silly smile. Love, Joann

Ron, all the way here in Kabul, I heard about your fathers passing. Very sad news, but he left behind a great young man and my friend. If he cannot be here with you today, then he is in the next best place God has to offer him. May he rest in peace.

Lynn,

I never had a chance to meet your dad, but the way you spoke and felt about him showed just the kind of good, decent man he was. I am so sorry for your loss, and if there is ANYTHING I can do, please don't hesitate to ask.
