Rose Dwyer Obituary

Dwyer, Rose Marie
Rose Marie Costa Dwyer, age 69, beloved wife of Joseph Dwyer of Shelton, passed away suddenly on May 6, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on August 26, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Varvella Costa. Before her retirement, Rose Marie was the admissions director at Watermark at 3030 Park. Raised in Bridgeport, CT, Rose expressed her kindness and warmth in every stage of her life. Starting with her volunteer work at the Sheehan Center, Rose dedicated her heart to helping others by working in the medical field for over 35 years. Past accomplishments included working in the ER, running a women's clinic and working at DaVita Bridgeport Dialysis. Her "second hometown" of Monroe Connecticut was home to her second career- she opened and ran "Rosie's Deli" for several years before returning back to her medical profession. She adored her friends from Bridgeport, CT- especially her friends from Central High School. Rose ran the reunions for her class and always made the effort to keep in touch with the people she loved dearly. In addition to her husband Joseph of 48 years, survivors include two loving children, Kevin and Corey Dwyer and her two grandchildren, Kayla and Colin Dwyer. Survivors also included are brother Joseph Costa, sister MaryAnn Brescia and daughter- in- law Laura Dwyer. She built a beautiful marriage with her husband Joseph for 48 years. They raised two children that appreciated them every day. We will miss you so much. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull, on Thursday, May 12, 2016, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. To leave an online condolence, visit us at www.abriola.com.

To the Dwyer family, My deepest condolences on your loss. Rose Mary will be remembered dearly by the class of "64". I first met Rose Mary in home room class. I was the nerdy kid with glasses in the second row near the door, I believe she sat by the window with her friends. We didn't belong to the same "click" back then but became friends after our 5th year class reunion. We then became friends and I went to every reunion. At first I was surprised that she rendered my name but after that she would always call me by name when we met at different functions or in passing. She will be missed by all but will be remembered, especially at class reunions. May God hold her close. Matty

Dear Joe, you were one of my most favorite teachers; and then, to have the good fortune to meet and work with Rosie at The Watermark...she was delightful, as you know so well, full of laughter and love, with such fierce dedication to her husband and her family. I'm just stunned that she's departed from our sight. And I am reminding myself and you, and all who loved her, that she is with us still, just not visible. May the comfort I know she would want for you, come in all the ways that it can, and may her deep love for all of you wrap around you like the warmest, softest blanket of love; that was Rose.
