Sanford Shinbaum
June 20, 2021
Sanford Harold Shinbaum, devoted husband of Dianne (Schrager) Shinbaum, passed away at home, surrounded by family on June 20, 2021. Born in the Bronx, he was the son of Leonard and Mae (Yellin) Shinbaum.
Sanford, known as Sandy and Dianne, married nearly 60 years, lived in Queens and Plainview, NY, before moving to Fairfield where they raised their family. The happiest times were spent bantering with friends and family about politics, playing his Friday night poker game, traveling, and of late, cheering on the UCONN lady Huskies basketball team with his dear Dianne.
In addition to his wife, Sandy is survived by his loving children, Lawrence and Marcy Shinbaum, Joy and Barry Schwartz, and Paul Shinbaum, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Daniel and Tess Shinbaum and Matthew and Jessica Schwartz, who did not leave his side during his short, arduous battle with pancreatic cancer. Sandy is also survived by his brother Alan and Barbara Shinbaum.
Sandy began his career in the garment industry at Arlands Department Store and Ames Stores before founding DMF Sales, a clothing manufacturing company, which he lead with best friends and family for over four decades.
Sandy will be remembered for his unconditional love of family.
Donations honoring Sandy can be made to Vista Life Innovations, Westbrook, CT.
