Scott Chmura Obituary

Chmura, Scott
Scott Henry Chmura, 52, of San Marcos, CA (formerly of Shelton, CT) passed away tragically on August 19, 2016 in San Diego, CA.
Born in Bridgeport, CT on April 12, 1964, Scott grew up in Trumbull before moving to Shelton. After graduating Shelton High School in 1982, Scott proudly served in the US Army from 1983-1993, an Operation Desert Storm Veteran.
Scott lived in Germany for 17 years throughout most of his military career before transferring back to the United States where he continued to serve our country by working for the Department of Defense at MCAS Miramar in San Diego, CA in 2003 as supervisor of the Fuels Division. He then married his wife Lerina in 2008. Scott was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. Anyone that was blessed to know Scott immediately felt his love and generosity.
Scott was predeceased by his loving parents Henry and Louise Chmura. Scott is survived by his wife Lerina with their daughter; Amanda; his son Brandon Chmura from Germany; his sisters Andrea Chmura, Melanie Lynn DeAndrea, Stephanie Ventimiglia, her husband Fabrizio and their son Luca; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Although Scott's life ended much too soon, he lived life to the fullest as he enjoyed traveling the world and learning several languages. Scott was happiest when he was cooking and entertaining for his family and friends. From early on, Scott enjoyed various hobbies from his motorcycles, cars, attending concerts frequently and accumulating various collectibles from around the world.
Our life and family gatherings will never be the same without our Scott, especially at Pepe's Pizza. Scott's smile and laughter will live on through his daughter and son. His sense of humor and selflessness will forever be remembered in our hearts.
Burial services were previously held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
A Mass/memorial service celebrating Scott's life will be held at The Church of Saint Mary the Immaculate Conception on 212 Elizabeth Street in Derby, CT on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends will be invited to gather after Mass–details to follow as announced by the Chmura family on Facebook.

One of the nicest memories I have of high school was knowing Scott. He was a very kind person with a beautiful smile.

My Little Brother.....I will miss that smile...that twinkle in your eye...you singing me"Angie Baby, you're a special lady"...leaving me your silly messages on my machine & making me laugh till I cried...Your lie here was way too short, only God knows why & the plan he has or you. It's hard to understand that there's no more calls, texts o what you and Lerina & Amanda are doing that day, photos o concerts you & Georg went to....I can go on...All I know is that a link in our amily is bIroken..our hearts are all broken...We will look ater your girls, and hope to meet Brandon,I know you would like that or us.I love you Scott...I know you're up there watching over us,smiling..while concocting some delight up there in God's kitchen...Until we meet again, little brother!!RIP...love you lots!! My big brother never failed to give me the forecast every time we talked, he would say how nice it was out, or what the temp was in California that day- how apropos as he is such a ray of light to those who know him. To not have known him is a loss in itself. He is certainly a ray of sunshine in my life and without him I feel as thou there'll be no sunlight, there'll be no clear skies, just like the clouds I'll do the same, without you Scott, every day it will rain Melanie

'Our Family Chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the Chain will link again.' I still expect the phone to ring or to get a photo of the day texted to me from Scott and cannot fathom the rest of my life without him. Scott left this world much too soon but while he was here he certainly lived a good life,he didn't just 'exist' there was so much he did, learned, loved, and gave of himself! Not only did he travel often with Lerina & Amanda always making new friends along the way but he never forgot about the old friends in CT. & of course us,his family, he never let a thing like distance keep him from letting family & friends know he was thinking of us, whether it was sending a box of oranges & avocadoes from his trees in his yard or sending a picture of what he was cooking or his latest addition of his Palapa built out at the pool but he was always present in our lives. We always ended our calls with one of us saying "I Love You, and the other saying " I Love you too". I know my Brother and I know he would say to me 'Celebrate my life, it was a good one, I know you'll miss me & you'll cry & you'll be angry & you wont understand but I haven't left you, I'll be watching over you till we meet up again, until then watch over My Little One and be a good Sister In Law to Lerina & be happy and live and laugh & love for I have. My only Brother is no longer here on earth but what a great Brother he was and always will be, I learned a lot from him & he turned out to be a wonderful man, son, brother, husband, father, and friend.Everyone should take a page from his book- Love Large,Laugh Loud,Learn Life is a Gift for as long or little as you may have it. I am so proud to have you as my one and only Brother! XoXo Love Your 'Little Sister' Melanie

Scotto I miss you so much but I do believe you are in Heaven with all of our family and friends. Nothing will ever make sense but I do know you are our angel. I feel your presence and your protection. You may physically have left us but your special brand of energy will never die. You live on in my soul but God I miss you and our Sunday talks like crazy. You'd be so proud of Amanda, she's going to come to kickboxing with me when she's here for Thanksgiving and she's going to teach me to Hula. Cuz - You did a great job with your Amanda Panda! Love love love you forever. <3 <3 <3
