Stephen G. Krehley, 89, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Helen Tussi Krehley, to whom he was married for 66 years. His other survivors include his children, Stephen (Cynthia) Krehley Jr., Elaine Krehley and Susan (Joseph) Firgeleski; four cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Jack Hay and Brianna and Cadence Firgeleski; a brother, Robert Krehley and his wife Annamary, and several nieces and nephews. Born on June 1, 1936 in Englewood, New Jersey, Steve was a son of the late George and Mary Nicolini Krehley. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology as a cadet in its Reserve Officer Training Corps program. After graduating from Stevens with a degree in mechanical engineering, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. When Steve's active duty ended, the family moved back to New Jersey and then to Connecticut, during which time Steve rose to the rank of captain in the Air Force Reserves and also earned a master's degree in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Steve had a long career as an engineer, retiring from ASML in the early 2000's after over 15 years of dedicated service. Before that, he worked for several firms, including Barnes Engineering, Perkin Elmer and Sealed Air Corporation. A devout catholic, he was for many years a faithful parishioner of Saint Matthew Church in Norwalk; At St. Matthew, he volunteered in several capacities and served with his wife, Helen, as a Pre-Cana facilitator advising engaged couples. Steve and his family spent many vacations in the Wildwoods on the Jersey Shore. There, Steve enjoyed body surfing at the beach and playing pinochle. But above all, he was a dedicated husband, father and great grandfather, who especially treasured time with his grandchildren. The love he gave and the values he embodied will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Theresa, Hilda and Thomas, the home health aides who went above and beyond caring for Steve in his time of need.
