Stephen Wright Obituary

Stephen P. Wright
On Sunday December 27, 2020, Stephen Wright passed away in his home in West Haven. He is survived by his three children, Nicole, Cory and Jeff along with two brothers, Jay and Paul Wright, a sister, Christine Rafferty, nine nieces and nephews and one grandson.
Steve was born in Newport, RI on October 22, 1954 and was raised for most of his childhood in Trumbull, by his parents James and Maureen (Donnelly). After graduating from Florida State University and receiving his JD from Western New England College, he eventually returned to Trumbull to practice law and raise his children along with his wife of nearly 40 years Patricia.
Steve established himself as a trusted and respected attorney in the area throughout his career. He was well known to use his expertise to offer guidance and counsel to those around him, often during their most challenging times and sometimes for nothing in return.
Steve served the town of Trumbull most notably as a member and chairman of the Trumbull Board of Education from 2003-2013. During his tenure he directed the design and construction of the first free standing special needs preschool in the State of Connecticut and the expansion and renovation of Trumbull High School. His passion for the children and teachers in Trumbull was profound and an entire generation of students owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for his many efforts on their behalf. His work in Trumbull was so exceptional in fact that then Governor Dannel Malloy asked him to serve on the State Board of Education in 2010, a post he held with distinction for nearly 10 years. Steve was also active with the school's We The People Program and served on the Boards of RYASAP and the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, among many other volunteer and charitable organizations. Steve left an indelible mark on his community, his friends and family and will be missed by all those who knew him.
Friends are invited to attend walk through calling hours on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
