Susan Farrell Obituary

Susan Ellen (Swift) Farrell
1961 - 2024
Susan Ellen (Swift) Farrell, of Milford, CT, passed away at home on January 15, 2024 surrounded by family, friends and flowers.
Susan was born on June 3, 1961 to Susan and Raymond Swift, Sr. Susan grew up in Milford, CT alongside her brothers Raymond "Buddy", Billy, Timmy, and Bobby. She treasured many happy childhood memories of vacations camping with her family. She was also blessed with several lifelong friendships she's had since Kindergarten.
Susan attended Jonathan Law High School, Kolbe Cathedral High School, and Bay Path Junior College. These experiences prepared her for a career of almost 30 years in the title insurance business. She loved her work, in part, due to the travel and networking inherent to the business, but mostly because of the many close friendships she developed along the way.
Susan's community service began early as a Rainbow Girl. Later, she served on the Board of Directors for Bridges for many years. She was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Milford.
Of all of her life's accomplishments, Susan's greatest and most valued is her family. She married Timothy Farrell 32 years ago and together they raised Rebecca and Sean. She loved her children deeply and was so proud of them. She was an adoring and doting Grammy to her granddaughter Sawyer, enjoying every minute with her, every picture, every update, every video, every facetime call. Susan was also thankful for Amber, Sean's dog, her constant companion at home.
In addition to the countless friends and loved ones in Susan's life, she was a consummate homemaker. She was a masterful cook - never needing a recipe. She was an accomplished baker. Her cookie jar was always full. She was a true foodie. She loved everything about food- planning meals, shopping, preparing, serving, eating, and sharing food. Because of all of the travel her job required, she happened to know the best dishes and desserts to get at different restaurants all across Connecticut. She especially loved a good Sunday drive with Tim, which always included a stop at a favored doughnut shop, or preferred diner.
Susan was predeceased by her mother, Susan (Kish), her brother, Timothy, and her son, Patrick. Susan is survived by her father, Raymond "Bud" Swift, husband Timothy, daughter Rebecca (Dan), son Sean, and granddaughter Sawyer. She is also survived by her brothers Raymond "Buddy" (Carole), Billy (Arline), and Bobby (Lisa) and many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. She is survived by several cousins she remains close with, particularly her dear cousin and friend, Lori Grucza Kirkland.
Susan is forever grateful for the loving care her husband and children provided her throughout her life and especially her illness. She is so thankful for Tim's caring support and compassion through it all. Susan wished to extend a heartfelt thank you to extended family and friends who cared for her during the last 4 years throughout her battle with breast cancer. It brings her peace to know that these same loving people will continue to care for her family.
Susan and her family are grateful for the medical care provided to her by Memorial Sloan Kettering, particularly her beloved doctors Chau Dang, Quincy LaPlant, and many others.

The world has lost one of its brightest stars! Susan would light up any room she walked into. She had the ability to lift anyone's spirits. She always cared. I will miss her so very much. Rest in peace, my friend.

To the Swift and Farrell family,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I grew up with the Swift family, they were my next door neighbors. I remember when we were young running in the rain in our bathing suits and playing all sorts of games outside. They were the best childhood memories. I will cherish them in my heart. Love and peace to all.
