Thomas Bargas Obituary

Thomas Bargas
Thomas Bargas of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Florida. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death.
Tom was born on May 22, 1941, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and spent over 30 years living in Trumbull, Connecticut, with his family. He spent many years working in the building and land development industry in southwest Connecticut. Later in life, Tom and his brother Jim assumed ownership of the Chris Bargas Golf Club at Whitney Farms in Monroe, Connecticut, which their father had established in 1982.
Throughout his life, Tom's love for animals was unwavering, with a cat or a dog always present in his home. He was an avid reader of all genres and a true music lover, especially passionate about classical music, with a particular fondness for German composers. An autodidact, Tom studied and learned about ancient history and fine wine. He was also a dedicated boxing fan, and long before the internet made record-keeping easy, he meticulously documented every round of boxing matches by hand, sharing his detailed records with boxing enthusiasts worldwide. Above all, Tom (also known as "Poppy") was a devoted fan of his favorite ballerina, his granddaughter Eleni. Throughout the years, he attended nearly all of her performances, always there to cheer her on and show his love and support.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Rose (née Cordone) Bargas. He is survived by his wife, Pamela George; his daughters, Lisa, Jamie, and Jill Bargas (Bruce Gold); grandchildren Jack and William Fitzmaurice, and Eleni Gold; his brother James (Gertrud) Bargas; nephew Chris B. (Jennifer) Bargas; nieces Stephanie (Tony Birbilis) and Elke Bargas; great-niece and nephew, Amelia and Liam Bargas; step-daughter Valerie George; stepson Paul (Maria) George; grandchildren through marriage, Byron, Christopher, and Katherine George; his loyal dog, Gracie; and many cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport on September 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed by burial at Nichols Village Cemetery in Trumbull.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Delray Medical Center and Trustbridge Hospice Care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local humane society or animal welfare organization are sincerely appreciated.
