Tina Maria Cicconi Ursini
Tina Ursini, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and a pillar of strength in her family, passed away on October 30, 2023. She was a remarkable woman whose journey from Italy in 1954 marked the beginning of an inspiring legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
Tina was born in Controguerra, Italy on February 19, 1931, where she spent her formative years before embarking on an extraordinary adventure to the United States. She also lived in North Africa before World War II. She spent years in an internment camp during the war, and always told stories of bug infested food and poor treatment. Her experiences made her stronger and a survivor. In 1954, she met her husband Guido Ursini and made the courageous decision to leave her homeland behind and set out for a new life, full of dreams and aspirations. This journey was a testament to her determination and her enduring love for her family. She worked at Il Progresso in Westport, The Town Crier in Fairfield and News Publishing in Stratford. She worked her way up in publishing from proof reader to computer operator when computers were new and the size of a small home.
Throughout her life, Tina exuded a boundless love for her family, which was her greatest source of joy and purpose. As a devoted mother and wife, she poured her heart and soul into nurturing her family, providing unwavering support, and creating a warm, loving home. Her children and husband were the center of her universe, and her enduring love and care were the foundation of her family's strength.
Tina's kindness and compassion extended far beyond her immediate family. She was known for her cooking, baking, gardening and her love of Pavarotti. She had a strong faith and did not die, but moved on to a new life with God and family. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors in times of need. Her innate ability to care for others, even in the face of her own challenges, left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Tina Ursini's memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her limitless love, kindness, and selflessness. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and the enduring importance of caring for others.
She was predeceased by her husband, Guido Ursini, her son, Luigi Ursini, and her sisters, Dora Angelini and Maria Buttafoco. She is survived by her loving family, including her son Ernie Ursini, daughter-in-law Desiree, daughter Rita Ursini Bartmon, and son-in-law Richard; grandchildren Preston Ursini and Audra, Ashton Ursini Mariner and Wesley, Lex Foster, Marivia Ursini, Brittany Ursini, and Alyssa Kennis and Jourdan; her great-grandchildren Troy Foster Moore, Patrick Kelly and Eli Ursini; and her brother Marino Cicconi. They will carry her spirit forward, cherishing the values and virtues she instilled in them. Tina Ursini's life is a testament to the enduring power of love and the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway, Fairfield. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coco's Pet Ranch in Zolfo Springs Florida (
cocospetranch.org) for her love of animals, a cause that was close to Tina's heart.
Tina Ursini will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as her love and legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She always recited this verse: "Quant'è bella giovinezza che si fugge tuttavia! Chi vuol esser lieto, sia; Di doman non c'è certezza"
"What beauty lies in youth, yet so ever fleeting! Who wishes to be happy, let him be so: for there is no certainty in tomorrow."
