Victoria Soto Obituary

Soto, Victoria L.
Soto - Victoria "Vicki" Leigh Soto, age 27, of Stratford, cherished daughter of Carlos and Donna (Fagan) Soto, and beloved sister of Jillian, Carlee and Carlos Matthew Soto, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. Born In Bridgeport, she was a lifelong Stratford resident. Vicki was a graduate of Stratford High School Class of 2003, and Eastern Connecticut State University, where she graduated with high honors, earning degrees in both Education and History. She was currently attending Southern Connecticut State University, to complete her Master's Degree. Vicki was in her fifth year of teaching at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Teaching was her passion, following in the footsteps of her beloved Aunt Debbie, and her dream since she was three years old. Molding young minds was her priority, but being the "fun" teacher, was what she was all about. The children she taught at Sandy Hook Elementary were a huge part of her life. Vicki was equally passionate about her family, which was the most important part of her life, especially her siblings, sisters, Jillian whom she loved unconditionally, and Carlee in whom she instilled the importance of higher education and her brother Carlos Matthew who looked up to his big sister with pride. She was not only a role model to her sisters and brother, but to everyone she met. She was an amazing young woman, who died a hero. Some of her favorite things include: Flamingo's, of which you can never have to many, (whenever we saw one, we thought of her), the New York Yankees #11, and, most importantly, Christmas, as she was the only one allowed to pick out the tree and put up the lights. Her friends were also such a big part of her life, especially her best friend and confidant Rachel Schiavone, whom she loved dearly. Vicki also leaves behind her loving dog Roxie, who waited for her to come home everyday, and is still waiting, lost without her. Her extended family was also a huge part of her life. In addition to her beloved parents and siblings, Vicki is survived by her grandparents, "Pop Pop", Donald Fagan of Bridgeport, and Jose and Marta Soto of Cleveland, TN, her Aunt and Godmother Debbie Cronk, and her husband, Uncle Robbie Cronk and their children, Heather Rose, Brianne Elizabeth and Wesley Fagan Cronk, her Uncle and Godfather Dean Fagan and his wife Denise and their children, Alex Gerard and her favorite buddy Zachary Jan Fagan. SOFACRO forever! She is also survived by her Uncle Don Fagan and his wife Linda and their children, Don and wife Jennifer, Christopher and Fiancé Sarah, their children Natalie, Christopher and Doug Fagan. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Janice Biebel Fagan. Vicki was truly an amazing daughter, sister, cousin, teacher and friend and died protecting her "kids." We couldn't be prouder of our HERO. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10AM DIRECTLY in Lordship Community Church 190 Prospect Drive Stratford, CT 06615. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-8 PM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Victoria L. Soto Memorial Fund for Education, through the Funeral Home. Vicki,

Both my sister and my girlfriend are elementary teachers and I was so honored five years ago to learn about your story. The selfless choice you made for those dear children on that horrible morning gives the world hope in our own humanity. Because of your courage, they had you to protect them in their final moments. I'm sure it was a great comfort for those heartbroken parents to know you made a difference for their little ones. Sometimes, I cannot understand why my life has been spared such anguish when so many people face such horrible suffering every day. At times, I wish with all my heart that I could go back to one of these tragic moments in our history and give my own life, just as you did, to save others who are lost to us now. But perhaps someday I will have an opportunity to provide that ultimate act of love.

Dearest Vicki, The Kingdom of God is now more beautiful than ever because of the depth of your love and this world more barren because you aren't here. May He bless you in Heaven and may His hand of healing be upon all your loved ones. Love is stronger than death and you are never forgotten honey.

Dear Soto Family

Even though I didn't know or every met your daughter she was
a true hero to all those children, she is in heaven now surrounded by all of them. And the ones that made it out are all looking up to heaven with a smile like a big rainbow in the sky. Your

I moved to the Chicago area from Stratford, Ct four years ago. I was visiting CT the week of this horrible tragedy that took you away from your family & friends. The dedication & sacrifice you made for the children in your care was nothing less than perfection in the standards of teaching. I know this : Jesus loved children, and so I'm confident that if all your friends and family gave you dozens of roses for Valentine's Day tomorrow, the beauty of it all would pale in comparison to the beauty of where you are right now. Pray for us.

For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones (Hebrews 6:10). Victoria will never be forgotten for all the work she did for her community and especially those encouraged and inspired in her care. May God continue to strengthen your family in these “times hard to deal with” (2Tim 3:1), especially without a beloved one such as Victoria Soto.

In Loving Memory of Victoria Soto

A year ago today your darling Victoria said good-bye
And you may still ask the question, "Why Lord, why"?

So prepare your hearts to celebrate the life which she lived
Let it be a celebration because she gave all that she had to give.

When she got to Heaven there stood Jesus waiting for her on Holy ground
The sacrifice she made for her children He knew was more than profound.

He knew that she treasured each one as a rare and precious gem
And it only befitting that she continue her journey with them.

He gave her a hug and smiled upon her glowing face
Filling her with happiness to be in that heavenly place.

Her children were waiting for her with the Yankees 'gone on before' from the Hall of Fame
And a big black lab wagging its tail and Roxie is her name.

As she looked off into the distance she saw a beautiful pink glow
As it got closer she realized it was a flock of pink flamingos.

So now it's time to give thanks to God for sharing Victoria with you
Knowing that the tears you shed are more than a few.

You're going to miss her with each and every day
The heart hurts so much that you think the hurt will never go away.

So believe with all your being that 'Father knows best'
Thank Him for the years that with her you were blest.

So get down upon your knees and in the most earnest prayer and say
"Thank you dear God, 'ere the time be so short for sending her my way."
