Virginia Martir Obituary

Virginia Martir
December 12, 2022
Virginia Mártir, 90, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on December 12, 2022, at Ludlow Center in Fairfield, CT. She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico to the late Carmelo Mártir and Juana Rosa.
An obscure pioneer of women's liberation, Virginia moved to the Big Apple as a young adult and lived a full life of independence in her best way. She had an adventurous spirit and will always be remembered for her endless energy and traipsing downtown with her great-grandchildren in tow in their former years. Her world-renowned pasteles will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of eating them for holiday celebrations.
Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son Jose Latorre, her precious 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; her dear siblings Clara Mártir and Matilde Mártir and a host of friends and family. She is predeceased by her daughter Dora Latorre, her grandson Raymundo Latorre and seven siblings.
Services will be held privately.
