Walter Litzie Obituary

Walter Charles Litzie Sr.
Walter Litzie Sr. passed away at home on July 19, 2023.
After being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2016 and having a successful lung transplant in 2019, Walter began his battle with cancer in March 2022.
Walter and his beloved wife, Justina, were high school sweethearts who shared an extraordinary 52-year journey together, with 48 of those years spent in the sacred bond of marriage. This loving union blessed them with three wonderful sons: Walter Jr., Adam, and Michael and his wife Kaitlyn; and a beautiful granddaughter, Gianna. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Litzie and his wife Joann, as well as beloved sister and brother in laws and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John A. Litzie and Sally Lazarecki Litzie and his brother and sister; Edward and Sally Litzie.
Walter had a passion for music and guitars, and brought joy to the people around him through his natural talent. As a devoted father, he instilled the same passion for music in his sons and frequently taught them to play as they grew older.
He believed in traditional family values and spent his fatherhood attending every sporting event and practice for his three boys, always showing up on time and never missing a game.
He worked 29 and a half years at Handy and Harman in Fairfield, CT and another 10 years at the Town of Easton Parks & Recreation Department. He carried his work ethic into his home life, having the ability to fix and build anything himself. One of the greatest gifts he passed to his sons was the same handiness in working on home projects and cars.
Walter was also a proud member of the Connecticut Classic Chevy Club. He was a charter member, being the 16th to join. He had a love for classic cars, in particular Chevrolets. Over the years he collected and built Nova's, Chevelles, Corvettes, and his beloved "57" Chevy.
He had a natural ability to connect with others. His kindness and gratitude for life left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford.

Tina and family,
From double dating with Bruce and Walt as kids to being best man at my wedding, spending time with Bruce when he was so sick, to making sure my daughter Aubrey always had a Christmas present from you and Walt till well into her teenage years after Bruces death, Walter was always thinking of his friend Bruce and Bruce’s family. Tina you were always right beside him. Thanking you both for letting my daughter know a little more about her father through you and Walt. We will never forget and are so grateful for all the kindness and love your family showed us through the years.
My heart breaks for all of you. Please accept our deepest sympathy and love at the passing of this wonderful man, husband, father and friend.
