Bruce Mizell Obituary

Bruce H. Mizell, 70, of Carlisle, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. He was born on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1939, in Charleston, S.C., a son of the late Monroe H. and Martha C. (Mizell) Mizell. He was married to the late Edith L. (Warehime) Mizell, who died March 18, 2005.

Bruce retired from the former S. L. Abrasives, Inc., Carlisle, after 38 years of service. He attended Mechanicsburg High School and was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses-Carlisle Congregation.

In the 1960s, Bruce was a weight lifter and competed in bodybuilding with York Barbell. He also competed in horseshoe throwing and loved music and singing.

He is survived by a son, Clinton E. Mizell of Carlisle; a sister, Mary Ellen Schlusser of Carlisle; two half-sisters, Laurie Frey of Newburg and Wendy Wirfel of Dillsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald D., David D. and Daniel D. Mizell; and a half-sister, Betty Permel.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Westminster Memorial Gardens, Newville Road, Carlisle, with Elder Ed Dorsey officiating.
