He died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va.
Born Aug. 22, 1924, in New York City, N.Y., he was a son of the late Charles F. and Freda (Gassmann) Peckholdt, and the widower of Margaret (Schack) Peckholdt who died in 1989.
Mr. Peckholdt was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Beth Page School District in Beth Page, N.Y., after many years of service as a mechanic. He also was board certified to teach adult education night school in auto mechanics.
He was a ruling elder in the former Brentwood United Presbyterian Church, Brentwood, N.Y., a member of American Legion Post 101, and VFW Post 477, both in Carlisle.
He is survived by two sons, Richard of New York and Charles of Virginia; two daughters, Lynn Rubino of Florida and Lois Skipper of Stafford, Va.; two brothers, William of Florida and Walter of New York; a sister, Carol Casini of New York; a friend, Helen Peckholdt of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The Rev. William C. Beck will officiate at services. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
