Janet Morelli Obituary

Janet Scott Morelli, 97, formerly of Riverside, Ill, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, where she has resided since September 2003.

Born Dec. 21, 1910, in Oak Park, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Walter and Birdice Scales Scott and the widow of Al J. Morelli, to whom she had been married for 66 years before his death in 2006.

She had been a home lighting specialist for Public Service Co. of Northern Illinois and was a graduate of Evanston College. A member of the Olmstead Society in Riverside, she was a founding member and the "resident comedienne" of the women's singing group The Profiles; she published "Mulligan Stew," a collecton of her humorous verse; and she won a poetry contest of the Chicago Tribune. She was an excellent bridge player and her quick wit and sharp sense of humor were with her until her passing.

Surviving is a son, Richard Scott Morelli and his wife Sylvia of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Sarah of Denver, Colo. and David of Boulder, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and her "other son" Fred Crowe and his wife Diana of Coatesville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Scott.

Memorial services will be at noon Saturday in Messiah Village Chapel with the Rev. Marilyn Ebersole officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon in the chapel. Burial will be in Silver Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Joseph Simpson Public Library, 16 N. Walnut St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

To Richard and Family;

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you. May God be with you at this time of sorrow and the days of rememberence ahead.

Your mother was very special to me. She was a 'trooper' in every since of the word. Sassy and classy are more words to discribe her. Janet was sharp mentally to the end. God's favor surrouded her her entire life. His special blessing covered 'til death and beyond. There is no doubt in my mind that she is now in the land of the eternal living.

Janet was a real inspiration to my life. We shared many conversations about many things. I miss her so, but her memory will forever be with me.

Look to God for strength and continued guidance; for he will never leave you.

Much love,

Leigh Mack

I'm so sorry that Janet passed away, I did love her, and even though a year passed since I saw her, I always had her in my thoughts. She was an amazing woman, and I loved working for her. My deepest symathies go to Rich and Sylvia.
