Robert E. Ilgenfritz, 66, of Carlisle, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Hershey Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 27, 1945, in Carlisle, a son of the late John and Viola Miller Ilgenfritz.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School. Robert was employed as a warranty manager by Keen Transport for 35 1/2 years. He was a member of Carlisle First Church of God where he volunteered as an ushers associate and volunteered on the visitors committee. He was a member of the Gobin Guard and a lifetime member of the Elks BPO Lodge 578, Carlisle. He served in the National Guard, 104 Division. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Jean Bixler Ilgenfritz of Carlisle; one son, Scott Robert Ilgenfritz (and wife, Heather) of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Morgan and Jacob Ilgenfritz; one sister, Elaine Oliver of Carlisle; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ilgenfritz and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Ilgenfritz and a sister, Dorris Ocker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street with Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
