Ernest Carrasco Obituary

Ernest M. "Ernie" Carrasco, 46, a resident of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho for the past 20 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Ernie was born April 21, 1961, the son of David Doniciano and Ernestina Mendez Carrasco in Carlsbad. He was an accomplished athlete who played football during high school, college and at the professional level. Ernie served with the Albuquerque Fire Department, the Bernalillo Fire Department, and various area EMS services. He was also a trainer at L.A. Boxing. He was a professional boxer/kick-boxer. Ernie was a member of the I.A.F.F., local 244.
He was preceded in death by his father, David D. Carrasco, and two brothers: David and Samuel. Ernie is survived by his mother, Ernestina Carrasco; six children: Corynna, Alexander, Anthony, Sadie, Samuel and Sawyer; two sisters: Christina McKinnis and husband, David of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Cathy Carrasco of Las Cruces; and one brother, Joseph Carrasco and wife, Peggy of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and 12 nieces and nephews: Tiana, Sasha, Sylvester, Carlos, Christine, Kyle, Michael, Amanda, David, Telina, Jacob and Gerard.
A memorial service for Ernie was held April 4 at the Calvary Chapel of Rio Rancho, with AFD Chaplains Jerome P. Rael and Michael Trujillo and BCFD Chaplain Matt Caward officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road, SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.

Sorry to hear about Ernest, he helped me on the pipeline as a welders helper when he got out of high school, he was a good hand and really strong. We all loved working with him. Allthough we haven't seen him in a very long time I ask the Carrasco family about him every time I see them. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all that loved him, we're going to miss you Ernie. [I have some pictures if anyone is interested]

I just wanted everyone to know that Ernie died of a hear attack. He was battling kidney failure and last novemeber he was hospitalize with an infection that put him out for five days. He never totally recovered. Thank you to the fire department and presbyterian hospital and staff
