Jose Franco Obituary
Jose R. Franco, Jr. (Joe), 77, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at his home in Midland, TX on May 4, 2020.
Joe was born to Jose Franco, Sr. and Francisca (Rojo) Franco August 27, 1942, in Marfa, TX. He was raised and attended school in Carlsbad, NM. Joe married Amelia (Martinez) in 1962. They had 5 children that they raised in Southern NM and West TX, eventually settling in Midland, TX.
Joe loved his family and enjoyed the time they spent together. He liked cooking for them. At times, raising pigs and the occasional goat to cook for special celebrations. He was a jokester, he often had his family, friends, and even strangers laughing. Joe supported his family working in the oil and gas industry. He was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Co. for 30 years before retiring. Joe made lifelong friends throughout his life and was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Benny Rojo, Henry Franco, Alfredo Franco, and Armando Franco.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Amelia M. Franco, Midland;3 daughters and 2 sons: Ida (Paul) Engelke, Midland, Brenda Franco, Midland, Veronica (Gerald) Carrillo, Odessa, TX, Michael (Renee) Franco, Vancouver, WA, and Philippe Franco, Canon City, CO; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who adored their "Popo"; a sister, Amparo Lopez, Odessa, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation and a private memorial were previously celebrated by his immediate family. Cremation was handled by Lewallen-Garcia-Pipken Funeral Home in Midland, TX. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at St. Edward's Catholic Church 205 N Guadalupe St, Carlsbad, NM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Aphasia Center of West Texas, 5214 Thomason Dr. Midland, TX 79703, Ph: (432) 699-1261.
