Kelvin Baker Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Bartley of the Key Church of God in Lovington, N.M., officiating. Burial will follow in the Carlsbad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today (Nov. 3) and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at West Funeral Home.
Kelvin B. Baker was born June 15, 1967, to Burl and Patsy Cooper Baker in Carlsbad. He was raised and educated here in Carlsbad. He met Michelle Shields and in 1995, they were married. Kelvin was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father, E. Burl Baker in 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle; and stepdaughter, Skye Eppler; his mother, Patsy Baker; and sister, Belinda and husband, Larry O'Hearon.
Pallbearers will be Mike Detrick, Brandon Detrick, Jason Detrick, Brian Detrick, Rey Flores and Shawn Bartley.

Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for your comfort that only God can bring in this time of sorrow. Just remember the God of the good times, is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night.

Kelvin, I still cannot believe that you are gone. Everytime I go to sleep and wake up I think it was just a dream. I am so grateful that we got to spend so much time together over the last several months. It gave us a chance to get closer. You had such a sense of humor that radiated even through the intense pain. You said that you would shout from the mountain tops when you were healed and walked again. You are shouting now loud and clear. There are those that are not able to hear because of sorrow and grief but will be able to hear one day. What a miracle. Gosh, I miss you and love you with all my heart. Your big Sis.
