Evelyn Brush Obituary
She was born April 3, 1921 to Charles M and Lena (Vergin) Williams in Litchfield. Evelyn grew up in rural Custer County and graduated from Sargent High School.
Evelyn continued her education at Central City business college for one year. She worked as a secretary in Loup City. In 1942 she traveled to Olympia, Wash., where she married Bernard Brush. They returned to Nebraska following the war where they raised their four children.
Evelyn was a long time member of First Christian Church in Broken Bow, serving as treasurer of the women's group, Sunday School teacher and the quilting group. She was a homemaker, gifted seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. Evelyn was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Lowry of Big Bear, Calif., Nancy (Gary) Hall of York and Carla (Jim) Rodriguez of Minden; daughter-in-law Ruth Brush of Denton, Texas; nine grandchildren Garrick (Bonnie) Lowry of San Antonio, Texas, Kristen Lowry of Big Bear, Calif., Jeff (Sarah) Hall of Omaha, Jenna (Ron) Dubas of Waverly, Lisa (JD) Race of North Platte, Laura (Kevin) Rhinehart of Lincon, NE, Erin (Kyle) Duncan of Ft. Saskatchewan, Canada, Tyler (Kate) Brush of Little Elm, Texas and Zachary (Joy) Brush of Albuquerque, N.M., and 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Bonita Williams of Bassett: and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Bernard; son Kevin Lee; son-in-law Eric Lowry; parents; and siblings Charles Williams, Jr., Arlene Kalkowski, Seth Williams and Winona Brummel.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, at Metz Chapel in York. Interment will be at 3 p.m., the same day at Broken Bow Township Cemetery in Broken Bow.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., Wednesday at Metz Mortuary in York.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
