Raymond Michael "Mick" Jarusek

1949 - 2016

Raymond 'Mick' Michael Jarusek, 66, of Kearney, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10:30 a.m.,  at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, 4115 Ave. N, Kearney. Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, from 5 - 7 p.m., at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, 4115 Ave. N, Kearney.

Mick was the son of Raymond Charles and Vesper Eva (Smith) Jarusek, and was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Broken Bow. He was the youngest of their three children. He was baptized at the Ansley Methodist Church in 1956. He attended Ansley Public Schools for his primary and secondary education, graduating in 1968. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Kearney State College.
July 23, 1972, he was united in marriage with Stephanie Herrold at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. From their union two children were born, Michelle Rene' and Tami Eva. Michelle and her husband Clayton Petersen, blessed him with three wonderful grandchildren. Daughter Tami and husband Cody Freeland added two more grandchildren to the family.  He loved the family time, especially Christmas, when everyone could get together.
After his college graduation he accepted a job with Apre Bath Products as a foreman of the wood shop, and later an assistant chemist producing the bath products. He later worked for Reed Construction building houses and condominiums, then a plumber for Anderson Brothers Plumbing and Heating. He worked for Kearney Public Schools from July 1982 until his retirement in 2013. He began as a Maintenance worker, then became the Maintenance Supervisor, and retired as the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds. 
Mick is survived by his wife, Stephanie; two daughters, Michelle and Clayton Petersen of Omaha, and Tami and Cody Freeland of Loomis; grandsons, Micah and Joel Petersen, and Trevor Freeland; granddaughters,   Camryn Petersen and Hailey Freeland; sisters, Karen Childers and husband Dave of Ansley, and Sandy Kvanvig of Mullen.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; and many aunts and uncles.
