Alice Roberts Obituary

Mrs. Alice 'Ruth' Isaac Roberts, 84, of 1185 Mineral Springs Road, Elberton, Georgia, entered into eternal glory on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cynthiana, KY on Sept. 24, 1937, Ruth was the daughter of the late James Abram Isaac and Lillian Russell Ewalt Isaac. She was married to the love of her life, George Edwin Roberts, Sr., for 64 years. They shared a love that most people can only pray for.
Mrs. Ruth, as she was affectionately known, owned and operated a preschool in her home in the 1980s where she greatly impacted an entire generation of Elbert County's families and their children. After closing her preschool, she joined her husband at their family insurance office, First Southern Insurance, in Elberton. Ruth's job title may have changed, but her ability to impact every person she came in contact with did not. She came to know many customers who became like family to her. She had the uncanny ability to make every person she spoke with feel like she had known them for an eternity.
Ruth was a lover of sports and Freddy Freeman's number one fan. Her favorite pastime was sitting side-by-side in their matching recliners with her husband and best friend, Ed, watching the Atlanta Braves or Kentucky Basketball.
Ruth dedicated her life to serving others. She never thought of herself, and always put others' needs before her own. Ruth could always be counted on for a tight hug, a squeeze on the hand, or a word of encouragement, letting everyone know how much she loved them every chance she had.
She lived a life that honored the Lord, and she was a member of First Methodist Church of Elberton for many years. Ruth had the gift of giving unconditional love to everyone, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit in her life were evident to any who came in contact with her. Her life was one that impacted generation upon generation, and the light of her soul touched so many. Ruth leaves behind shoes that were only a size 5, but somehow will never be filled.
She and Ed raised three wonderful children, Kathy (Tracy) Mercer, Fran Pless, and Eddie (Amy) Roberts, who will forever be grateful that Ruth was their Mom. Her favorite title of all was "Granny". She treasured each of her seven grandchildren, Laura (Travis) Rada, Molly (Dave) McKnight, Nikki (Andrew) Mack, Ali (Nick) Lewis, Meagan Roberts, Morgan (Dusty) Willis, and Camryn Pless, and nine great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ryder, and Bentson Rada, Makayla McKnight, Marlee, Sawyer, and Lily Mack, Rainer and Whit Lewis, and was looking forward to Baby Willis arriving in the spring. She had the amazing ability to make each one feel as if they were the only one. In addition, she leaves behind her siblings: Ann Wells, Shirley (Jack) Massey, and MaryLynn Richie. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Isaac.
Funeral services celebrating Ruth's life will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 11 o'clock at First United Methodist Church of Elberton. She will be placed in the church at 10 o'clock. Entombment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
The family is at the residence of Kathy and Tracy Mercer and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m, on Tuesday, November 9.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.berryfh.com.
Berry Funeral Home & Crematory of Elberton is in charge of arrangements.
