David Curtis Obituary

David Lawrence Curtis, beloved husband, father, son and brother, began his life's journey November 18, 1956 in Casper, Wyoming and arrived at the end on February 6, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Oh, what a journey! He was full of vim and vigor from the very start. He couldn't wait to be born. At the hospital he was delivered while his father was still parking the car. David was a superb athlete, strong of will, and loved to make people laugh. He graduated from Mahwah High School, in NJ and from Texas State University in 1980, with a degree in Business Administration. He enjoyed the travel and interaction with hospital staff and doctors during his career in medical sales. A life long dog lover, he was especially fond of his Labrador Retrievers. He inspired his family and friends with his faith, his courage and grace while confronting a chronic illness. Above all, Dave was a proud father and loved being a Dad. David is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Vanderhoof Curtis. He is survived by his loving family; his beautiful wife, Lynda, two sons, Jacob and Jarrod, his father, LB Curtis, three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Jennifer and Tom Swanson, Annie and John Benzon, and Claudia Curtis, and eight nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and care attendants at Baylor College of Medicine, St. Luke's Hospital and Brookdale Nursing Facility in Cypress. The funeral service is Tuesday, February 10,10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070. A private interment will follow at the Knopp family cemetery in Edna, TX. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Pals, 3830 Greenhouse Road, Houston Texas 77084 or the charity of your choice.

I will cherish my memories of my big brother and share them with my nephews, nieces and children at every opportunity. I can only stand in awe at David's courage and confidence in God and Jesus Christ during his illness. What hopes I had that he would get the treatment he needed and begin to live the life he so wanted to live especially for his family. My brother, my friend I will miss you. Thank you for your love and care for me - including helping me pick myself up and all the spilled candy that cold Halloween night nearly 50 years ago and taking me home. That's my brother! Love always, Claudia
