BARBARA TYRRELL Obituary
Born June 29, 1937, in DeKalb, to Donald and Viola (Ainsworth) Van Meter, she was adopted by Floyd "Bud" and Fern (Lockwood) Bartmess. She married Richard "Dick" Tyrrell Nov. 24, 1956.
Barb graduated DeKalb High School, Class of 1955. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, bowling and roller skating in her youth. As an adult she enjoyed camping, playing cards, reading and sitting on her back porch with family and friends. She was a homemaker and partner of William Tyrrell & Son well drilling. She donated her time managing the Sycamore baseball complex concession stand. She was employed at Hagens Ace Hardware, Sheahan Equipment and The National Bank & Trust Co. in Sycamore. Barb was a member of First Baptist Church, DeKalb, The Ladies of the Moose and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Sycamore.
She is survived by her sons, David Tyrrell of Atoka, Tenn., Thomas (Vicky) Tyrrell of DeKalb, Jeffrey (Diane) Tyrrell of Sycamore, Michael (Paulette) Tyrrell of Kingston and Brent Tyrrell of Atoka, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Christopher Wig of Escondido, Calif., Shannon (John) Alamia of DeKalb, Amber Tyrrell of DeKalb, Justin Tyrrell of Kingston, Emily Tyrrell of Sycamore, Leah Tyrrell of Chicago, Haley Tyrrell of Sycamore, Brandon Bergman of DeKalb and Ronald Tyrrell of Atoka, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her granddaughter, Kayla Anne Tyrrell; and her parents.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, with the Rev. Steve Persson of First Baptist Church of Sycamore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.
