Betty L. Bunger, 72, of Belvidere, Ill., died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at home.
Born Dec. 31, 1948, in DeKalb, the daughter of Ben Clifford and Loraine Lydia (Decker) Lawhorn, Betty worked for many years in the silk screening department at DeKalb Toys Inc., at the Woolco Department Store in DeKalb, at Bunger Soil Service in Kirkland, and tended bar at Village Inn and the Big House. She took computer classes at Kishwaukee College and was a member of Mayfield Congregational Church in Sycamore.
Betty loved to knit and crochet, making many blankets. She loved traveling, cooking, bread making, photography, calligraphy, gardening, embroidering, reading, and scrolling through Facebook.
Betty is survived by her children, Kerry (Richard) Maldonado of Lamesa, Texas, and Jennifer Bunger of Schaumburg; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jonathan and Naomi Zorola, and Marcus Williams; brother, Benjamin "Ben" Lawhorn Jr.; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and Glenn Bunger of Kirkland, the father of her children.
She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Wilbur Lawhorn.
The family extends special thanks to Betty's cousin Mary Wabel for her loving care.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Mayfield Congregational Church, Sycamore, with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Masks are optional.
