Betty J. Foose, 91, of Lakeland, Florida, previously from Waterman, Illinois, passed away April 30, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 28, 1930 in Belvidere, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Hazel Ray.
Betty grew up in the Waterman and Big Rock area, graduating from Big Rock High School in 1947. She married Thomas E. Foose on June 6, 1950 and spent her life devoted to her husband and raising her children. Betty and Tom owned a restaurant in Waterman, she drove a school bus and retired as the school transportation supervisor. She was known as "The Candy Lady", and enjoyed sharing her candies with family, friends and neighbors. Her hobbies included playing cards, baking, candy making and crafts. Betty (better known as Mom to many) loved to travel and enjoyed cruising. Citrus Woods has been a part of her family for many years.
Betty is survived by her children, Terry (Swede) Ekstrom, Greg Foose, Jeff (Peggy) Foose and Chris (Foose) Luttrell; 9 grandchildren, Brian Ekstrom, Nick (Beth) Foose, Tony Foose, Kristen (Ryan) Lyle, Cris (Rob) Frye, Kim Setser and Thomas Setser; 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great Grandchildren; Sister, Barbara (Ray) Schubert; Brother, Wes Ray and sister-in-law, Betty (Foose) Rissman.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Tom and her 2 sons, Chuck and Barry and 5 sisters.
A private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 8th, for the family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, May 7th, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, Illinois.
Due to COVID rules, only 50 are allowed in the bldg. at a time. Masks must be worn! Please be patient when coming to visit family.
