Darrel Kennedy, 71, of Sycamore, IL, died Monday, August 25, 2025, at home.
Born February 6, 1954, in Sycamore, the son of Eugene Kennedy and Mary Kennedy. He was a member of the Sycamore Moose Lodge. Darrel was a machinist for Bison Gear & Engineering in St. Charles, IL for 27 years.
Darrel was a proud life-long Sycamore resident. He was an avid bowler who loved flowers and cats. Darrel enjoyed going to stock car races and could often be seen photographing the cars.
Darrel is survived by his many cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
Memorials can be made in his name to Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115, or, Sanctuary Hospice, 6876 Spring Creek Rd., Ste. 124, Rockford, IL 61114.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Olson's Quiram Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178, with visitation from 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Sycamore.
The family thanks the staff at Northwestern Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Sanctuary Hospice, as well as the Palliative Care staff, Dr. Shepard and Dr. Patel for their compassionate care of Darrel.
