Florence Ann Johnson
Born: March 14, 1937
Died: April 19, 2021
Florence Ann Johnson passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021 at the age of 84. Flo was born to parents Mayme and Edward Somers on March 14, 1937 in Lanarck, WI. Flo grew up in Amherst, WI and graduated from Amherst High School. She married the love of her life, Donald B. Johnson on September 8, 1956 and they settled in DeKalb, IL. Flo had a long career with the DeKalb County Sheriff's department and retired from there in 1990.
Flo was an avid sports fan. While not easy being surrounded by Chicago Bears fan, Flo was a die hard Green Bay Packers fan. She loved following the Chicago Bulls and Cubs. Flo cherished her granddaughters and was an incredible grandmother. She loved watching granddaughters' dance performances and sports games and was always their biggest fan. Flo could often be found enjoying the sunshine on her deck and taking care of her beautiful flowers in her yard . Flo had family and friends across the country and enjoyed traveling to spend time with them.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband Don in May of 2020, her parents, her brother Bob Somers, her sister Mona Edwards, and nephew Jim Somers.
She is survived by her daughter Dawn (James) Haynes of Nekoosa, WI, son Doug (Delinda) Johnson of Sycamore; granddaughters Lindsey (Tyler) Jaeckel of Denver, CO, Hillary (Justin) Stoddard of St. Paul, MN, Mackenzie (Jacob) Smith, DeKalb, Madelyne (Garret Jackson) Johnson, Sycamore; great grandchildren Theo and Ellie Jaeckel, Denver CO, Mack Alan Smith, DeKalb; her identical twin sister Fran (Edwin) Atkins of Oakdale, CT, sister Mary (Al) Jenquin, Watoma, WI, brothers John (Mary) Somers, Grand Junction, CO and Tom (Betty) Somers, Chippewa Falls, WI and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by sister in law Beverly Johnson and brother in law Richard (Teri) Johnson
The family wishes to thank Dr. Dhaval Thakkar for his wonderful care, along with the staff of Bethany Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice Care.
A cremation will be taken care of by Anderson Funeral Home. The family requests no memorials. A celebration of life for both Don and Flo will be held later this year.
