Franklin "Del" Sandberg
Celebration of Life Services for Franklin "Del" Sandberg of Malta will be held May 4th, 2022 at Faranda's Banquet Center, 302 Grove St., DeKalb. Welcoming of friends will be from 3 – 6 p.m. The Service will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a buffet at 7p.m. Franklin passed away on Jan. 19, 2022. He was born in Marquette, Michigan on Feb. 10, 1934 and moved to Rockford with his family at the age of 3, graduated from East Rockford High School and attended NIU until he served in the Army in 1955 -1957. He married Carol Willrett in 1957 and they owned and operated Sandberg Electric until they retired in 1993. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Sharon (Tom) Bergman, son Steve (Terry) Sandberg, and daughter Sheli Sandberg, 7 grandchildren Amanda (Don) Pollnow Jr., Rachael (Matt) Herrmann, Hannah (Tyler) Studebaker, Nicole Fruge, Eric Fruge, Samantha Sandberg and Sydney Sandberg and 4 great-granddaughters. Also sister-in-law Hope Willrett, and brother-in-law Dick (Joy) Willrett , and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert & Marie Sandberg, 1 sister Evelyn (Lars) Steinsbo, 5 brothers Clyde (Lilly), Ed (Clare), Floyd (Frances), Ted (Dolly), Bob (Lois), in-laws (Jim (Bev) Willrett, Raymond Willrett and Frank Willrett.
All Memorial donations will be gifted to the Malta Township Library.
