Gary Joseph Bross
Born: March 3, 1961 in Sycamore, Ill.
Died: September 13, 2021 in Clare, Ill.
Gary Joseph Bross, 60, of Clare, Ill., passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at home, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born March 3, 1961, in Sycamore, the son of Joseph and Maryann (Sanderson) Bross, Gary married Lori Seegers on July 24, 1982, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sycamore, where he became a member.
A 1979 graduate of Sycamore High School, he earned degrees in 1983 and 2000 from Illinois State University and Kishwaukee College, respectively, to become a radiographer, retiring recently after working about 18 years at Kishwaukee Hospital. He was known for being positive and pleasant on the job.
He enjoyed fishing, hiking, boating, micro brewing, traveling, and raising chickens on his "hobby" farm. Gary will be remembered for the Mirai sweet corn that he grew and sold at the family stand on Route 64 in Clare. He also worked for a time at the Bross' Complete Sheep Shoppe on the family farm. While quiet and reserved, he had his humorous side, with quick puns and fond nicknames.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lori; children, Anna Bross (David Anderson) of Baltimore, Md., Evan Bross (Jade Ullrich) of Clare, and Mason Bross (Sarah Brazeau) of DeKalb; his mother, Maryann Bross of Clare; brothers, Ronald Bross, and Michael (JoEllyn) Bross of North Aurora; sister, Jodi Fletcher (Scott Holtman) of Woodinville, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Joe Bross, in 2011; father- and mother-in-law; and grandparents.
Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established.
The family thanks Gary's best friend, Justin Haka, for his ever-present support and humor.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Church, 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore, with visitation one hour prior at the church, Visitation also will be held from 4 to 6 pm Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Olson's Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St. Masks are required.
