HANS BERNTSEN Obituary
Born April 20, 1912, in Sandes, Norway, he was the son of Mathias and Olava (Larsen) Berntsen. He married Hanna Selvaag on Dec. 31, 1941, in Tasta, Norway.
He was employed at Corey & Evans Trucking Co. in DeKalb for more than 20 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of DeKalb, the Sons of Norway and the DeKalb Eagles Club.
Hans's family would like to thank friends, neighbors and DeKalb County Hospice for their help and support during the last few weeks of Hans's life.
He is survived by his wife, Hanna; a son, Rolf (Dorothy) Berntsen of West Chicago; a daughter, Helga (Keith Lodholz) Low of Eagle River, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hanna Pettersen of Norway; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Tom Schlieben.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Schlieben in 2002; and two brothers, Rolv and Lauris Berntsen.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Todd Peterson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the funeral home.
A memorial is being established for Hans B. Berntsen in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
