HELEN HAWKINS
Born: November 9, 1934 in DISWOOD, IL
Died: November 21, 2025 in DEKALB, IL
Helen Hawkins, 91, of DeKalb and formerly of Sycamore, Illinois, died Friday November 21, 2025 at DeKalb County Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born November 9, 1934, in Diswood, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Powles) Lingle. Helen married Robert L. Hawkins on December 28, 1954, in Tamms, Illinois.
Helen worked in the cafeteria at Geneva High School and then DeKalb High School prior to her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and also her cats Inky, Shadow, and Snowball. Helen was an avid Cubs fan.
She is survived by her four children, Gary (Gayle) Hawkins, Cheryl (Stan) Hamilton, Sue (Tom) Smith, Robert K. Hawkins; her 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; and her parents.
The graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb with Pastor Kevin Spears officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be addressed to the Hawkins Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
