JODI SCALETTA Obituary
Born March 13, 1962 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Samuel P. and Joanne (Leonardi) Scaletta.
Jodi was the supervisor of the Biology lab at Northern Illinois University for 10 years. She loved animals, and especially loved raising and riding horses. She was a volunteer at TAILS Humane Society in DeKalb. She liked western apparel and decor.
Jodi is survivied by her children, Kolton Oftedal and Kalyn Oftedal, both of Sycamore; her mother, Joanne Scaletta of Sycamore; her fiance, Linn Morgan of Sycamore; three sisters, Betsy Scaletta of Sycamore, Sharon Scaletta of Geneva and Mary Scaletta of Sycamore; two brothers, Samuel (Terri) Scaletta of Glen Ellyn and Lawrence (Heidi) Scaletta of Geneva; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel P. Scaletta.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, with Fr. Frank J. Timar, M.S.C. officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

I cannot even begin to express how sorry I am for your loss. Jodi was so lucky to have had such a great family that always supports eachother through thick and thin. To the Scaletta family,
There are no words that can come close to ease the pain if what you are going through right now. My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone one of you. I knew Jodi through my sister, Faith Gonzales.

What can I say which isn't already known about Jodi when you meet her for the first time. I am happy to have met Jodi and crossed paths in this life time. Our lunch dates with Kristi, Michell, Chuck, Dave and Tammy will never be the same. Her beautiful smile and terrific sense of humor will be missed but her memory will never be forgotten. So sorry to hear of Jodi's passing. I was blessed to know Jodi through 4-H and would often see her on her horse at Circle KD or out on the trail in a forest preserve. She was such a kind, soft-spoken person and she had such a love for animals. Jodi will be missed and we will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn about Jodi's death. It's just beyond belief how such a young life could be taken so suddenly. I remember what a sweet and beautiful girl Jodi was, and I remember how my father was so very fond of her. I remember my daughter, Jessica, falling in love with horses while visiting with you and Jodi and her kids -- a passion that has now turned into a career. I wish you all strength in dealing with the loss of your beloved daughter and sister-- I know Jodi loved you all very much. I knew of Jodi through her fiance Lynn.
