Katherine Y. "Katie" Carlson, 89, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.
She was born December 8, 1928, in Rochelle, the daughter of Orville and Ada (Rhodes) Morris. Katie married Paul R. Carlson on August 16, 1947, in DeKalb. Katie was a great cook, baker, and gardener and was very much loved by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Cathy (Edward) Bauer Jr. of Waterman; son, Paul (Brenda) Carlson of Rockford; four grandchildren, Teena, Edward III, Eric, and Scott; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cade, Kylee, Jacob, and Barrett; one great-great-grandson, Jayce; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Eugene, and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial family gathering will be held at a later date. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Katherine Y. Carlson Memorial Fund, addressed to the Carlson Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.

Have very fond memories of family gatherings with Aunt Katie. Always amazed by the wall of fish tanks Uncle Carl had. So many years have passed since I last saw cousins Kathy and Paul. Blessings to your family during this difficult time. Would love to attend a memorial when date is set.

I am so sorry...visited here 2 weeks ago and she did not remember me. She was one of my favorite aunts.......my last living aunt.. Hugs to you all and would like to attend memorial service. Kay Guinta
