CORTLAND – Lana Lucile Marten, 70, of Cortland, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford.
Born Feb. 23, 1942, in Loves Park, the daughter of Erwin R. and Arlene (Hartman) Dygert, she was employed at Northern Illinois University in the Financial Aid Office for more than 40 years. Lana was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, DeKalb, and was active in several organizations at the church and in the church choir. She was active in many aspects of Stage Coach Theater.
She is survived by two sons, Scott (Liz) Marten of Hoffman Estates and Chad Marten of DeKalb; five grandchildren, Madison, Peyton, Luca, Matteo and Marco; a brother, Norman (Linda) Dygert of Valparaiso, Ind.; and four nephews, Kerry, Joshua, Jeff and Brett.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 511 Russell Road, DeKalb, with the Rev. Ray Krueger officiating. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lana L. Marten Memorial Fund, sent in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

Lana was a great asset to NIU and its students, let alone a great person. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing this morning. She is most certainly in Heaven!

Lana is Amazing person. We are coustumers at stage coach and we have work many shows with Lana. When we first arrived she welcome us and helped us get into the swing of things. We have many memorys of lana from her cards, sweaters, and being the queen with a beutiful crown. We miss her. We send are love to you.

Scott,Chad, and your beautiful family, I am so very sorry for your lost. Lana is now an Angel with a big job not only watching over you but she is all now watching all of us. Your mom was a sweet loving person with a beautiful heart. Those that didn't know her will agree just by knowing all of you. Love you and I am so sorry. It will be hard, if you need anything even if you just want to talk you have us.

I just wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your mother. She was a wonderful person and we had a lot of good times together. Due to some health problems, I will be unable to attend the services, but I did want you to know that I will always consider Lana to be a great friend.

There aren't any words that can express our feelings over the lost of the "Queen" which she called herself during my directorship in the SFAO. To Scott and Chad, warm and heartfelt memories of Lana will always remain with me.

We did not know Lana long, but our family got to know her as the stage manager for Music Man at Stagecoach. She was a master keeping everything going, and such a delightful person to know. We will miss her. My husband, daughter and I extend our deepest condolences to Lana's family and friends.
