Marian S. Baars, 90, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore.
She was born March 13, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene and Margery Della (Luis) Schroeder. Marian married Donald Baars on , June 11, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois.
Marian taught over 30 years for the DeKalb school district, many of those years where at Jefferson Elementary School. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church in DeKalb where she served as a usher, as a member of Women's Circle and on the Holiday Bazaar. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Ladies Bridge Club. Marian volunteered at Kishwaukee Hospital for several years. She was an avid Cubs fan since the 1930's.
She is survived by her children, Kandi Talley and Michael Baars both of DeKalb; her five grandchildren, Heather (Jason) Talley of Indiana, Kimberly (Brett) Miller of Cortland, Patrick Talley of Shabbona, Alyssa (Ethan) Baars-McKay of Mauston, Wisconsin, and Nikki Baars of Green Bay, Wisconsin; twelve great-grandchildren; her very best friend, Carol Lindeberg of DeKalb; and her mini wirehaired Dachshund, Bentley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1993; her grandson, Kristopher; her brother, Robert Schroeder; and her son-in-law, Tim Talley.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Rev. Jonathan Crail officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Please wear Cubs attire!
