Born: September 10, 1938 in Chicago, IL
Died: March 4, 2021 in Sycamore, IL
Martin P. "Cookie" Koch, 82, of Sycamore, IL passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
He was born September 10, 1938 in Chicago to Charles and Pearl Koch. Marty attended Sycamore schools and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1958.
Marty is survived by his partner, Jill Pigott and her daughter, Dawn (Mark) Mattison; his children, Bill (Connie) Koch of CO, Holly (Bill) Roberts of FL and Darrin Koch of IL; and grandsons, Alex Koch and Ryan Koch.
Marty was employed by Diamond Wire in Sycamore, The Battery Factory in Geneva, Holub Industries in Sycamore (where he was employee of the month on two occasions) and City of Sycamore Water Department. Since 1956, Marty coached numerous levels from Little League up to the Colts, umpired Pony League, Little League, and girls' Leagues. He played 16" Softball from 1956-1995. Marty pitched for the Terriers before Little League was available in Sycamore. He also pitched in Pony League Legion and The Colts. He won a championship game in the Legion. He pitched hardball for the Sycamore Sons. He continued to pitch 12" Slow Pitch in championship games for 5 years. Marty also enjoyed bowling for 42 years and participated in the A.B.C. Tournament in Oklahoma.
Marty was Vice President of the Complex Board, who was responsible for erecting the lighting on the ball diamonds at Sycamore Park. Marty was a member of Sycamore JC's, Sycamore High School Boosters, Loyal Order Moose 586 DeKalb (where he activated the first Membership Award), Treasurer and Committee Chairman for the Membership Committee.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles "Mick" Koch, William Koch and Jerry Koch and sister, Delores "Cookie" Koch.
His visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., in Sycamore, IL.
A graveside service will be on Wednesday, March 10th at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Cemetery, 901 S. Cross St. in Sycamore.

Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly
departed. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these
difficult days, our most heartfelt condolences. He was a very good coach,
a great ball player and had a chance to play with him in 16" soft ball in the
Sycamore League over the years. He will truly be missed. Our prayers goes
out to Jill and to the Koch family.

I worked with Marty and Jill at Holub. What fun we had!! Marty was full of jokes and made work seem to fly by! Christmas parties were a blast!! Jill and family I wish you days of wonderful memories and always know Marty touched so many lives in a positive way!
