Mary A. Nikitopoulos, age 83, of DeKalb, IL passed away suddenly on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Easley, SC. She was born on July 26, 1937 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Russell and Lucille Clark. Mary was united in marriage to Tom Nikitopoulos of Thana Greece, and they spent many years living and working together until his passing on December 31, 1996. Mary worked for many years in several family businesses alongside her husband and children including Nor-Bar Steakhouse in Belvidere, IL; Crystal Chandelier in Belvidere, IL; Mamas Restaurant in DeKalb, IL; and DeKalb Wholesale Foods, in DeKalb, IL. In her later years, Mary enjoyed spending the summer and fall in DeKalb, with her son's family and the winter and spring in Easley, SC with her daughter's family watching all her grandsons grow up.
She is survived by her daughter, Christina (Dimitri) Malatanos of Easley, SC; her son Tommy (Jeanne Baird) Nikitopoulos of DeKalb, IL; and her four grandsons, Nico Malatanos and Alex Malatanos of Easley, SC and Ozzy Nikitopoulos and OliverNikitopoulos of DeKalb, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Lucille Clark; and her husband, Tom Nikitopoulos.
Funeral Services were held in SC on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Reverend Bart Leon officiated a small service at the funeral home and Father Tom Pistolis delivered the Trisagion at the gravesite. Arrangements made by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Downtown Chapel,
