Patricia Clark-Beard
Born: October 18, 1935 in Jacksonville, IL
Died: May 30, 2021 in DeKalb, IL
Patricia Jane Clark-Beard, 85, of Genoa, Ill., died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.
Born Oct. 18, 1935, in Jacksonville, Ill., the daughter of James H. and Helen (Canatsey) Clark, Pat spent her early childhood in Springfield, Ill., before moving in 1946 to Stonington, Ill., where she graduated from high school in 1954. After graduation, Pat attended Hamlin University in St. Paul, Minn. She continued her education by entering the Nursing Program at St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, Springfield, graduating in 1958 to begin her career as a registered nurse in the Emergency Room at St. John's Hospital, a career that spanned many years until her retirement at age 78. Pat was an operating-room supervisor at DeKalb Public Hospital, DeKalb; in-service director, Woodstock Hospital, Woodstock; surgical-floor head nurse, Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb; clinical nurse, Kishwaukee Medical Associates, Sycamore; and instructor in the CNA program at Kishwaukee College, Malta, for several years prior to her retirement. Pat loved teaching, sharing her knowledge, her nursing skills, and her passion for nursing with her students. Pat touched many lives and was an inspiration to those she taught.
Pat also was a corps nurse for Fox Valley Raiders, Aurora; and Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Rockford, in the early 1980s, traveling with them throughout the United States. She enjoyed the 4H activities in which her grandchildren, Trace and Erin Fidler were involved, and loved the animals they raised and the county fair competition. Pat was involved with the Granny Program, helping elementary school children in Genoa and Kingston with their reading skills. She enjoyed the books they chose to read and the children's conversations with her. Pat loved and helped care for two Australian Shepherd dogs and Grace the cat in her daughter's home; all three were her companions and gave her joy and comfort. Her grandchildren, Trace and Erin were her pride and joy. Her love of animals and her zest for life will be carried on through them.
Pat was a kind, considerate woman, who always put others' needs before her own; she loved people and never knew a stranger.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Lara Lynn (Joe) Fidler of Genoa; son, David Clark (Mercedes) Beard of Sycamore; grandchildren, Trace and Erin Fidler, and Alexandra Beard of Houston, Jacqueline Anderson of Dallas, Texas, and Donald Anderson of Henderson, Nev.; great-grandchildren, Arianna and Darien, and Brooke; sister, Helen A. Turner of DeKalb; niece, Michele (Dan) Orchowski, DeKalb; nephew, Michael (Dawn) Turner, Algonquin; great-nieces and -nephew; cousins; and many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents of Decatur, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family sends special thanks to all the CNAs and nurses at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital for all the excellent compassionate care Pat received, and a special thank you to those CNAs and Nurses who were in her classes. Pat was blessed to see that the knowledge, nursing skills, the compassionate care she instilled in her students was being carried forward as they, in turn, cared for her. A full circle has been completed.

An Exceptional Nurse. I enjoyed working with Patricia, she would never leave until her duties were completed. Her dedicated style was difficult to duplicate. I was blessed to work with her. My condolences to her family. May God Bless.

Lara & Family, Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Mother. I worked with your Mother during her tenure at Kishwaukee College as the CNA Instructor and my being the administrator of the State CNA certification exam. Pat went above and beyond to assist her students as she wanted to see them be successful and to fulfill a need in the healthcare field. Pat often shared accolades pertaining to both you and your children. She leaves behind many memories for all to cherish.

I was blessed by meeting this woman several years back. Patricia had a knack of putting you at ease & always made you feel good about yourself. We lost touch many years ago but I see she never slowed down doing things she loved. She may be gone from this world but she lives on with the hundreds of lives she touched, taught, nurtured, loved, etc . Her family will be comforted by these memories I'm sure.
