Randy Alan Smith, 68, of Sycamore, IL, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at home.
Randy was born January 13, 1957, in Peoria, IL, the son of Perry Smith and Carrie (Hamilton) Smith. Randy married Janet Smith on March 22, 1997 in Marquette Heights, IL. Before he became a self-employed contractor in the construction trade, Randy worked as a master craftsman technician in the automotive industry.
A patriotic veteran of the US Army, Randy served his country from 1975 to 1976.
Randy loved his family. Being around his grandchildren was especially important to him. He was protective of his loved ones. Randy loved to tease his family and friends, had a good sense of humor, and laughed a lot. He was quite a character. He enjoyed building and fixing things, fishing, working on cars, and was known to be a perfectionist.
Randy is survived by his wife, Janet Smith; his children, Joshua Smith, Perry Daniel "PD" Smith, Carrie Reardon, and Roechelle Willi; his step-children, Jenn (Keith Kostecki) Smith, Erik (Jenna) Smith, Ruth (Jeremy) Clark, and Beth (Drew) Lusk; his sister, Cindy Sorenson, and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Connie Berkley and Genevieve "Angel" Dudley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11th, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a service immediately following at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2350 Pride Ave., DeKalb, IL.
Burial will be the following day Thursday, June 12th, 11:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
