Robert E. Sackse, 84, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Thursday, April 15, 2021, at his home.
He was born October 11, 1936, in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of Herman A. and Lydia (Fraiken) Sackse. Robert married Nancy J. Grivetti on October 18, 1959 in Ottawa.
Robert moved to DeKalb in 1973 and worked as a carpenter for Paul Jacobson & Company and was Vice President of Construction for Harbour Contractors. He was an avid Nascar fan, he owned and raced stock cars. Robert was a member of the National Guard and served many years as president of the local Carpenters Union in Ottawa, Illinois.
He is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Sackse, Michelle (Greg) Perkins and Molly (Todd) Stoffa all of DeKalb; grandchildren, Hayden, Michaela and Jacob Perkins and Abigail and Cole Stoffa; brother, Melvin of Grand Junction, Colorado; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 2018; sister, Dorothy Roesler and his parents.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb with the Rev. Ray Krueger officiating. A private family burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, with Full Military Honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66 .
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the funeral home.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required at both Visitation and Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Robert E. Sackse Memorial Fund, addressed to the Sackse Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
