Susan Mueller
Born: April 20, 1949 in Elgin, IL
Died: January 14, 2022 in DeKalb, IL
Susan L. Mueller, 72, of Genoa, Ill., died Friday, January 14, 2022, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb. Her family was by her side.
Born April 20, 1949, in Elgin to Earl G. Carlson and Anastasia T. Rigney, Susan married James P. Mueller on Nov. 3, 1973, in Carpentersville. Susan was the house manager at Opportunity House in Sycamore, where she was employed for over 25 years, working with adults with disabilities. Sue loved her work and made many friends during her career.
In her youth, Sue enjoyed ice skating, swimming and playing croquet. She spent many days at the lake with her family, whom she loved more than anything. Sue loved her two sisters; they would spend hours on end talking on the phone. She loved every second spent with both Janet and Karen. They were always sharing photos of the kids and grandkids and loved watching their families grow over the years. She loved animals, especially her dogs and cats. Sue was an expert at crocheting and knitting. She made blankets, hats, scarves, shorts, and dishrags for days. She loved to cook and was a wizard in the kitchen. Sue enjoyed her time over the years with the Romeo and Juliet's, talking, lunching, crafting and making memories. Some of her favorite things were going out to lunch, shopping and spending time in Wisconsin Dells with her husband and family. Sue loved her family fiercely, her husband, her kids, grandkids, sisters, nieces, nephews, parents and every neighbor, friend or person in need. If you needed love, a meal, a place to stay, someone to chat with, Sue was your person. Sue was more than a person, she was a place. Sue was home. Sue was the sweetest, most kind, loving and gentle person on this earth and will be missed every single day.
Susan is survived by her husband, James Mueller; six children, Lisa (Ken) Doane, Lora (Tim) Mahnke, James (Sarah) Mueller, Melissa (Brendon O'Higgins) Mueller, Daniel (Kari Malone) Mueller and Julie Mueller; grandchildren, Luke Mahnke, Katie Doane, Kenny Doane, Lily Mueller, Faith O'Higgins, Caelin O'Higgins, Aiden O'Higgins, Sienna Mueller and Jameson Mueller; sister, Karen (Greg) True; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Mary Janet Edwards.
No services are to be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tails Humane Society in DeKalb.
