WILLIAM MEISCH Obituary

William A. Meisch, 78, of Sycamore, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.
Born Jan. 6, 1933, in Naperville, the son of John and Mary (Kohley) Meisch, he married Gloria D. Regole on June 23, 1956, in St. Charles.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from the Army, he farmed in the Naperville, St. Charles and Maple Park areas his entire life. While he farmed, he also worked for the Geneva Bottling Works for more than 15 years.
William was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sycamore. He also was a baseball enthusiast and enjoyed watching his favorite team – the Chicago Cubs. Bill also was a perfectionist about his lawn. He kept it looking picture perfect. He enjoyed spending time at his summertime getaway, Lake Louise in Byron. You could find him driving around the campground in his golf cart and visiting with friends.
William is survived by his two sons, William J. (Mary Lynn) Meisch and Bernard H. (Teresa) Meisch; one daughter, Catherine M. Meisch Cardinali; eight grandchildren, Steven (Amanda) Meisch, Crystal (Jarod) Bruckner, Kevin, Michael and Patrick Meisch, Stacey (Lance Higham) Cardinali, Ryan and Justin Cardinali; five great-grandchildren, Trenton Meisch, Kaylie Bruckner, Cole Meisch, Logan Bruckner and Riley Higham; one brother, Jim (Janice) Meisch; two sisters, Marion Feltes and Pat Bacon; two sisters-in-law, Liz Meisch and Mary Jean Karas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria in 2009; an infant son, Edward Charles; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Bernice Walker.
His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, with Fr. Frank J. Timar, M.S.C. celebrating. Burial will be at Marywood Cemetery in Aurora, following a luncheon at the Parish Activity Center. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with a wake service recited at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the DeKalb County Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

In the years that I have spent in Kishwaukee Community Hospital's cardiac rehab facility, I was always pleased to see Bill and Gloria (then Bill alone) because they brightened the day for the rest of us. As a near-neighbor on a parallel street, Bill was always delighted to share his experiences regarding the challenges of home ownership and maintenance. He will be greatly missed.
