Winifred M. Holman, 99, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center.
She was born October 29, 1921, in Cortland, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Selma (Klyver) Myers. Winifred married Vern Holman on August 16, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri.
Winnie was the youngest of 4 children all born Cortland IL.
Winnie and Vern got married, two weeks before Vern left for overseas. She was active in the VFW ladies auxiliary for many years serving several terms in office.
Winifred and Vern enjoyed traveling often taking a grandchild with them. She made the best Barbie clothes shared with the Grandkids through the generations. Watching her Family grow was her pride and joy! She worked at Brody's Coat Factory until it closedown and then off to NIU Gilbert's Hall where she enjoyed working in dietary and spending time with the students until her retirement in the 1980's.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Edward "Chub") Erwin; grandchildren, Laurie Erwin (Don Kendall) and Scott Erwin; great-grandchildren, Megan Erwin, Josh (Casey) Terlecki , Samantha (Wyatt) Janke, Justin Terlecki and Michaela Gabbert; great-great-grandchildren; Emma, Noah, Mila and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Selma Myers her husband, Vern Holman; son, Roger Holman; siblings, George (Adline) Myers, Olive (Sam) Luoma and Jim Myers. And all her loyal pets over years.
We want to thank Dr. Thakkar and the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Home workers for their excellent care.
All services will be private. Interment will take place at Fairview Park Cemetery, in DeKalb
